Anastasia
M. Ashman's writing on art, society and culture has appeared in publications
worldwide, from the Asian Wall Street Journal to the Village Voice.
Tales from the Expat Harem is Anastasia's first anthology, adding a
new facet to a decade of experience evaluating and editing creative
material in New York and Los Angeles media and entertainment, working
for literary agents and producers of film, television, and Broadway
theatre. Her cultural essays appear in The Thong Also Rises (Travelers'
Tales) and in the upcoming The Subway Chronicles (Plume-Penguin, 09/06).
She currently lives with her Turkish husband in Istanbul. A native of
California, she holds a degree in Classical Greek, Roman & Near
Eastern Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College.

Bodur is a freelance illustrator based in the UK and Turkey. He was
born in Germany and raised in Turkey, where he gained a degree in Fine
Arts. Although his creative background is mainly in traditional art,
Cengiz has used this to his advantage with digital art. Cengiz is currently
working as a freelance illustrator and web designer.

Jennifer
Eaton Gökmen is a writer captivated by the people and customs of
Turkey, her home for the past twelve years. Jennifer began her expatriate
life as an exchange student in England, later returning to the UK as
a chef's assistant working her way through the silver service dining
rooms of London's financial district before extensively backpacking
Europe. A native of Michigan, she has a degree in Creative Writing and
American and British Literature from Western Michigan University. Jennifer's
literary career began with an expatriate humor magazine where she served
as staff writer for two years. She is a regular contributor to TimeOut
Istanbul magazine and her writing has appeared in the Strange Intimacies
anthology exhibited at the 9th International Istanbul Biennial. She
lives in Istanbul with her husband Bilgehan.

University. Her current research is on immigration, citizenship
and cultural identity.

Gamze Seckin
has received her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in Arizona State University
in 2000. She is working as the director of technology in Vidiator Technology
(US ) Inc. in Seattle, US and as an assistant professor in Dokuz Eylul
University Computer Engineering Department in Izmir, Turkey. She has
two sons, Onur and Kaya. She paints and writes a little as much as her
work and sons permit.

Chong Ho
(Alex) Yu has a Ph.D. in Measurement, Statistics, and Methodological
Studies (Arizona State University, AZ). He also has a B.A. in Visual
art (Bemidji State University, MN) and a diploma in Professional Photography
(New York Institute of Photography). Currently he is the Director of
the “Testing, Evaluation, Assessment and Research” (TEAR)
Group at Arizona State University’s Advanced Learning Technologies
Institute.
